SPR Biosensor

SPR Biosensor aims to deliver the ability to diagnose infectious diseases with a high degree of sensitivity, in real-time. This substantially improves the clinicians’ ability to prescribe the right treatment after the first clinical examination of a patient.

Diagnosing infectious diseases today is problematic since the symptoms a patient expresses can point to several different causes. Today’s gold standard for diagnosis is laboratory testing, which requires sample preparation and logistics. This means that a clinician usually has to wait at least 24h for reliable test results. This delay leads to increased costs for the healthcare system, due to incorrect diagnoses, longer hospital stays and an increased use of drugs.

Solution

Instant Diagnosis of Infectious Diseases

Providing instant diagnose

SPR Biosensor is developing a diagnostic instrument consisting of one analysis unit and consumable chips designed to detect specific biomarkers/antigens. The instrument is expected to have the following properties:

  • Results delivered within minutes, at the bedside.
  • High sensitivity, i.e. the possibility to detect antigens directly from a patient sample, without the need for work-up procedures.
  • Qualitative and quantitative measurements of antigens.
  • Simple handling, such that one day of training will be sufficient for a health care professional.
  • Multiplexed analysis, such that several antigens can be measured in one sample.
  • Cost efficient, using very small amounts of reagents and low cost components.
