Layerlab

Layerlab

provides biosensors that improve life science analysis.
Encubator Portfolio Company from 2002.

Layerlab and Midorion have earlier been two separate portfolio companies but they have now merged to one, currently under the name of Layerlab. Both of the former companies’ technologies still exist. The Midorion Z1 impedance-based instrument takes biosensing to beyond mass measurement, presenting new opportunities for researchers to get more valuable information.

The Layerlab membrane process analysis kit creates a possibility for researchers and drug developers to unravel the functionality of membranes and membrane proteins. Membranes have to be penetrated and membrane based receptors targeted in most drug development projects.

Solution

Specialty Reagents and Surfaces

memLAYER

The memLAYER products, based on the proprietary Tether Enhanced Liposome Immobilisation (TELI) technology, provide a unique approach of gently immobilizing biological membranes to bioanalytical sensor surfaces and thus enabling the study of processes that occur over biological membranes as well as membrane protein functionality.

nanoLAYER

The nanoLAYER products, based on the proprietary Bi-functional Nano structure Covalently bonded Surfaces (BNCS) technology, offer a convenient way to control the structure and distribution of chemical functionality on a surface with nanometer resolution by deposition of gold nanoparticles. Such surfaces can be used as model surfaces for biological interaction studies, cell-studies or as nano-electrodes.

SPR Sensors

Biacore® compatible standard SPR Sensors with gold surface and custom surfaces on request.

Biosensor Instruments

z-LAB Instrument and Sensors

The first generation of Layerlab Impedance instruments provides new insights into the multifaceted relationships of molecular interactions and molecular adsorption. Applications include proteins, lipids and polymers interacting with molecules, surfaces and changes in the surrounding environment.
