Many manufacturers of metal goods are striving to reduce the weight of their products and the main driver is fuel cost. Lamera offers sheet metal, using a simple way to reduce the weight of their components. The product HybrixTM is a hollow sheet metal and is about 50% lighter than solid metal. Hybrix looks like ordinary sheet metal and can be formed and processed with the same tools.
Technically it is a micro sandwich technology with the unique feature of being air filled and at the same time as thin and formable as solid sheet metal. Hybrix can be made from any metal, such as stainless steel, carbon steel and aluminium.

Hybrix
Bringing you all the value of stainless steel at a very low weight
Hybrix is a high performance stainless composite material that looks and behaves just like common stainless steel sheet, but is much lighter in wight. The unique core structure of Hybrix, containing air and millions of steel fibers, makes the material strong and light, yet very malleable using conventional metal forming tools. Unlike conventional lightweight sandwich materials, Hybrix can be shaped into compound curves, such as the shape of a molded briefcase, making it a very versatile material. Hybrix has the same appearance, surface, and stiffness as a normal stainless sheet. It can also be processed and formed with the same tools. Although a sheet of Hybrix is an advanced engineered material, you would probably not be able to distinguish it from a common stainless sheet until you pick it up. It simply gives the impression of being too light. Although made of stainless steel, a Hybrix sheet is actually both lighter and stronger than even an equivalent aluminum sheet.
