Ecoera

Ecoera

removes CO2 from the atmosphere, raises crop yields for agriculture and offers a new way of offsetting CO2.
Encubator Portfolio Company from 2006.

Ecoera is a company that creates a better planet by removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and enhances agricultural soil quality and crop output. This is done through a platform where Ecoera uses agricultural residues and turn their carbon atoms into a millenniastable form called “biochar”. This carbon is then applied to agricultural soils where it has a crop-enhancing effect by serving as a growth catalyst. The stored carbon dioxide is sold as a voluntary carbon offset. The biochar is offered to farmers for soil enhancement.

Solution

BIOAGRO Biomass Transformer

A pelletization line is connected to a silo and mixer system, where the Biomass Pellet Formulas – the “pellet recipes” - guided by the proprietary software, “Pellet Formula Generator”, are applied to the by-product biomass. The pellets created are combusted in the newly developed HOTAB AP 1250 furnace which generates heat, thereby replacing oil. The pellets can be sold on the local/global market. The capacity of the current system by Skånefrö AB and HOTAB, in collaboration with Ecoera, is 5 tons of Bioagropellets per hour.
