Denator provides a chain of products to ensure quality preservation of biological samples for protein analysis. A market driven idea combined with a team consisting of young hard working entrepreneurs, senior business persons and innovative researchers and developers has enabled the rapid growth of the company.

Business Concept

In a pioneering work, a group of researchers at Uppsala University discovered that proteins in biological samples degrade rapidly after sampling. To address this issue, they developed a process which ceases the degradation and thereby preserves proteins in biological samples. In addition they found a biomarker for sample quality on the protein level, which is now being developed as the first sample quality control in the proteomics field.

Denator has further developed the inventions from Uppsala University into a chain of products which both preserve and ensure the quality of the sample before analysis. Enhanced quality enables researchers to find new biomarkers and disease targets. The products are targeted to enhance proteomic research in academic and pharmaceutical research. In later stages, Denator aims to implement the products at hospitals to improve diagnostics.

Progress

The first system to stabilize samples for protein analysis is currently being put into production. Prototype systems have been utilized in a highly successful European pre-launch campaign. Key customer endorsements have been gained from opinion leaders within both the academia and the pharmaceutical industry providing the necessary references for an effective launch.

The organization has been strengthened on all levels, and key individuals with experience from life science production, marketing and sales have joined Denator. The company is now fully prepared for the transformation from a pure R&D focus to an organization managing with R&D, marketing, and sales.

Denator has an experienced board of directors led by Per Carendi. In addition Denator has an advisory board with experts from the different target segments which provide access to these highly network driven markets.

Outlook

Stabilizor™ T1 will be launched at HUPO 2008, the world congress for protein studies, to be held in Amsterdam in August. The pre-launch campaign has already resulted in purchase orders, and the first systems will be shipped in the second quarter of 2008.

In 2008, the focus will be to install systems at the locations of opinion leaders, thereby establishing the ground work for rapid sales growth in 2009 and 2010.

Several research collaborations have been initiated by the Uppsala research office to broaden the product portfolio and ensure future growth.
