Cefibra

Due to increased raw material prices for plastics and improved manufacturing technologies, composite materials are successively replacing pure plastic materials. Pressure from end-user and stricter regulations has made the material industry shift focus towards material from renewable resources. Cefibra’s biocomposite materials create the following benefits:

  • Strong renewable materials with low density and attractive visual appearances.
  • Over 100% higher performance parameters in terms of strength and stiffness in comparison to existing renewable materials.
  • Up to 50% less usage of plastic resins.
  • Lower production costs due to less wear on manufacturing tools and shorter cycle times.

Biocomposite Materials

Floorball blades of Cefibras biocomposite material

Cefibra’s first biocomposite material constitutes a basic polypropylene resin, reinforced with biofibers. This yields an increase in performance of 50 - 70% in terms of strength, and 100% in terms of stiffness. Additionally, the impact strength is maintained at high levels. The first material is primarily aimed for replacing glass-fiber reinforced thermoplastics in injection molding processes. Suitable industry sectors are the automotive industry, building and construction, and consumer goods.
