The idea and research, which the company Arterion is based upon, will be explained by one of their idea providers, professor emeritus and vascular surgeon, Bo Risberg. The segment will especially evolve the evalution studies performed by PhD Helen Fink during her thesis work.
The program will discuss how the scientists behind Arterion have discovered a way to use bacteria to build up artificial blood vessels, which can be used in heart surgery.
Arterion develops small diameter artificial blood vessels to be used as replacement grafts in humans. By using microbial-derived cellulose and controlling the habitat of the microbes, Arterion can create vessels with better mechanical and biological properties than all known competitors.
Among Bo Risberg, Arterion's other idea providers and researchers are Paul Gatenholm, Aase Bodin and Henrik Bäckdahl.
The program will also explore theories on why Danish children reach puberty earlier than others, thinking it might be due to environmental toxins as well as introduce new findings about the first fish on shore.
The program will air on SVT2 on Monday, March 1st at 20:00 as well as on Saturday, March 6th.
