Encubator realizes ideas in cooperation with Chalmers School of Entrepreneurship and Göteborg International Bioscience Business School

About Encubator

Encubator realizes ideas together with CSE and GIBBS and has, since the start of CSE in 1997, demonstrated the ability to, in interaction with our partners evolve an idea to the point of being a viable enterprise able to attract venture capital and management. This successful platform has initiated and created ventures stemming from research at universities as well as established companies.

Encubator provides an environment for actively managing its project and company portfolio with an objective to generate strong financial and societal returns. This objective is achieved through the steps below.

The Encubation Process

The Encubation Process

  1. In the first step of the process, students apply to the Master programs in Entrepreneurship at CSE and GIBBS. During the program they will study specially developed courses in order to gain applied knowledge necessary for real venture creation.
  2. As a second step, Encubator recruits and evaluates business ideas from academia, industry and private idea providers. The most promising ones are presented to the students who then rank the ideas, first as a group and then as individuals. Each student also choose their preferred team members.
  3. In the third step, at the end of the first year of the education, the project teams are formed by matching 2-3 students to each of the selected business ideas. The process is carried out by CSE and GIBBS staff together with Encubator and concerns many aspects such as: personality, experience, competence and preference of each student. All in order to get optimal teams for each business idea and its originator.
  4. As a fourth step, the whole second year of the education, the teams move into an incubator provided by Encubator and start to develop their business projects. Encubator also supports the teams with seed capital, business network and coaching by having an active role on each project board. The students also continue to take courses that are applied directly to the project’s real needs, tailored to optimize entrepreneurial learning and to generate real ventures.
  5. In the fifth and final step, after one year of incubation services and devoted work, the students graduate from CSE and GIBBS and move out from the incubator. Those projects that have reached a certain level of maturity are turned into companies and normally 1-2 of the former students in each team stay on as entrepreneurs. Viable projects, not yet ready for incorporation are subject to further business development, which are referred to as start-up projects in transition. Encubator has extended its support to also include coaching and guidance in these projects. Not all entrepreneurs stay on the projects but they instead move on to work with other companies or form new ventures that are successfully contributing to society.
